ÖBB Rail Cargo Group establishes new connections to Turkey (Vienna, 27 March 2024) – ÖBB Rail Cargo Group (RCG) is since recently operating five round trips per week from Curtici to Tekirdag and one round trip per week from Munich to Curtici. On the Genk–Curtici route, round trips are increasing in frequency from three to five times a week and a new pilot project for non-craneable semi-trailers is being introduced. RCG is thus improving its network for its customers with better connections to Turkey, an important freight hub for transportation between Europe and Asia. New TransFER Curtici–Tekirdag Since the beginning of February, RCG is operating the TransFER Curtici–Tekirdag with five round trips per week. This was made possible with the support of Pasifik Eurasia. The connection replaces road traffic with three weekly round trips from Curtici to Istanbul and creates a direct link to the port of Tekirdag – a key transshipment point for transit and the flow of traffic between Western Europe and Turkey via the Curtici gateway. New TransFER Munich–Curtici With one round trip per week, RCG now also runs directly from Munich to Curtici. This makes it the first logistics company to provide a regular link between Curtici and southern Germany and, in combination with the two new connections, to and from Tekirdag. TransFER Genk–Curtici: Increased round trips and pilot project The TransFER Genk–Curtici will be increased from three to five rounds trips per week. This TransFER also enables further connections to and from Tekirdag. Non-craneable semi-trailers can now be transported on this connection too. This is also being planned for the TransFER Budapest–Neuss. Established connections to Istanbul TransFER Budapest–Istanbul will continue to operate with four round trips per week, while TransFER Bratislava–Istanbul will carry on with one round trip per week. TransFER – THE connection With around 60 TransFER connections, over 1,500 TransFER combinations and numerous individual routes, the ÖBB Rail Cargo Group transports goods across the entire Eurasian continent. The transport units vary from entire wagonloads and intermodal shipments right through to comprehensive customised solutions. Depending on the place of departure and destination, additional freight forwarding services such as transshipment, warehouse logistics and customs services can be booked.
